At first opening the package I took the too off. And oh great no nib!! After reading the instructions I found that the nib was inside the cap after removing the nib and putting in a ink cartridge I began to use this beauty I love it!!i collect and repair vintage fountain pen but i made the decision to purchase an inexpensive new pen. the one i almost lost was a rare Parker with a $400.00 value. Thank you my dear wife. The only reason for the 2 4 star ratings was to get you to read this post. The pen is a super value and is an amazingly smooth writer. The finish is beautiful and the universal filler works with no leaks. The pen would be a great starter pen. No skips and a semi flex nib.Make sure you use a good ink like Waterman's and only use the cartridges as a back up. Now to my couple of 4 star ratings. The pen is super chunky and very heavy. This is not a bad thing, in fact i love the weight. But for you first time fountain pen users keep that in mind. i am buying another Wordsworth and Black this week. Buy one.So, full disclosure: the pen is FINE for writing. It does what it is supposed to do just fine. THAT SAID, it is big and bulky, and very cheap looking and feeling. It feels like a plastic color wrap around a cheap, metal body. It looks ugly and cheap. It is not as nice looking as the pictures make out. Overall, VERY cheap looking and feeling. Most people who go to the trouble of using fountain pens over ball points or rollerballs do so for a touch of class. This pen is NOT that. It comes across as cheap. I think I have a recurring theme here. Buy some of the other brands instead. There are some beautiful pens here under $50 that do just as good a job, but look and feel fantastic.This pen is big and heavy! You definitely won't be posting. It is nice looking and writes fairly well. The W&B Erudite is the way to go!!The pen writes well the nib is smooth but like other pens from Wordsworth I do wish the converter was better. It barely gets any ink in and the only option is to fill it with an eyedropperI have a much more expensive $250 Italian pen that I don’t want to take to work. I ordered this one as my office pen that I’d be willing to lose or have stolen due to the low price. I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the upscale looking box and saw the quality and beauty of this pen. It looks and feels much more expensive than it is. Definitely not a cheap looking pen. Very elegant. Writes like a dream. Cap screws on and off and will post but with the cap posted, it’s heavy and back weighted. Better to leave the cap off when using. I’m a lefty and this pen still works great. I would recommend this pen to anyone, even as a nice gift to a pen snob like me.Elegant and heavy great ink flow gave one to my niece in college and she loves it. Kept one for myself everydayuseI thought it was going to be another re-branded cheap Chinese pen but received a nicely built fancy looking pen that also writes great. The medium nib is just gliding on my cheap paper. Great on Rhodia and Tomoe River papers too. It is a wet writer. Also pretty substantial to hold. Cap posts securely, but a little too unwieldy for my hand. Unposted can hold it just great. Cap clip is not too stiff and has W&B logo engraved on it as well as on the finial It takes about 2.5 turns of the cap to unscrew the cap off. It may help to seal the nib so it does not dry out. Really enjoy writing with this pen. Great value.I have two of those pens in black and gunmetal gold and they are both equally pretty. Pen is well made, has nice weight and feels good quality. Comes in very nice gift box. I’ve seen many pens in the past which came in presentation gift boxes but just felt cheap, not this one. It writes beautifully with Waterman ink on many types of paper including ones which aren’t fountain pen friendly. There are cartridges included which aren’t bad at all when you are on the go. Overall I am very impressed and I think you can’t go wrong here for the price paid. It makes smooth lines with good ink flow, it feels much more expensive than it is and it has a nice weight, no too heavy but not plasticky light either. Screw cup on this pen has metal thread and it tends to make a bit of squeaky noise in the beginning. My resolved after few uses. I’ve seen however similar issue in pens much more expensive than this one.I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for a plastic bodied fountain pen that got stood on and this more than fits the bill.The stying is very good.The nib allows just the right amount of ink with no unsightly blotching.The only drawback is it’s weight, which is very noticeable if you place the cap onto the body, which is the logical place, but the only a niggle and becomes less noticeable the more the pen is used.This pen is just fantastic. The pen itself is very weighty but this is not a problem. It is balanced just perfectly. The pen writes very smoothly with the ink converter that is provided with the pen. the gold accents of the pen really set it off.I have a real passion for fountain pens and for the price of this pen (I did get a deal off the supplier)it is great value for money. I have a number of Parker, Waterman and Cross pens and it is up there with the best. I would recommend buying one of these fountain pens.Everything about this pen just ooze's quality.At the age of 70, I have used many fountain pens. This one happens to be the best.It is 'heavy' and feels good in the hand. Compared to a famous brand, it is my view, that it is far superiorin quality, weight, feel, and style. More importantly I must give the Company 10 out of 10 for customer service. They actually reply!! Unlike some firms I could mention. There it is. A great pen for the money and much better than those costing treble! Supported by first class service.
