I was worried because a lot of the reviews point out Bic has redesigned this pen, and that the quality wasn't as good. It looks very different but the actual functionality is near identical. I still have one of the old Z4s and did a line-by-line print test and you couldn't tell them apart. =) The new version has the same smooth writing and bold lines of the original.If you haven't used either version before, beware because these do bleed through thinner paper. Don't use them to underline passages in cheap paperbacks, for instance, but they are great for slapdash note-taking because the ink flows so freely. They also don't dry on slick paper (such as most color textbooks). Careful if you're writing inside a shiny Hallmark card, because it will NEVER dry. You can't just blow on it and wait a set amount of time before sealing it up. They really need something to sink into.
